Key Areas of Responsibility and Tasks
Participates in Deal Support activities of the Commercial function. For Business Partnering, this role includes all core activities that are performed to meet 1st and 2nd level Deal Support requirements that result from SAP internal global policies. For Pricing this role includes providing guidance on licensing and pricing questions, assists with deal structuring, and reviews / approves Software deals. For Contracting this role includes support of licensing, professional services, non-disclosure, outsourcing, partnering and other contracts preparation. For Cloud Deal Desks this role includes all core activities that are performed to meet 2nd level Cloud Deal Support requirements. For Revenue Recognition this role includes all core activities that are performed to meet 2nd level RevRec Deal Support requirements. For Cloud Commissions this role includes support of account teams in Cloud Commissions. These roles may complete activities within a specialized area and may interact with the broader F&A Community to achieve desired results/services:
Commercial Business Partnering: Support typical deals (>250 K Euro – 1M Euro) on the commercial processes such as Deal Approval, Contract Creation, Contract Approval, standard aspects on RevRec, Pricing, Contract pre-approved drill downs. Support also Commercial Experts with strategic deals (>1M Euro) during the Deal closure project. Responsible for advising GCO on Deal Approval so that it may achieve compliance with existing internal procedures. Responsible for guiding GCO on all existing Commercial policies and guidelines to effectively structure and execute Deal closure.
Revenue Recognition (CoE): Considered revenue recognition senior specialist for specific region, territory, or global level. Fully integrated with the field to provide deal support to proactively address revenue recognition and accounting issues. Participate in the monthly close process.
Pricing (CoE) : Responsible for supporting account teams assigned to both strategic and non-strategic accounts for specific US regions or industries. Expected to be involved in more strategic pricing functions, as well as provide advice on more complex and challenging licensing questions requiring strong analytical ability to provide unique solutions to pricing issues. Provides guidance on licensing and pricing questions and assists with deal structuring, and reviews / approves Software deals. Actively involved in directing the creation of assets to educate and inform account executives.
Cloud Deal Desks (CoE): Responsible for supporting account teams assigned to standard and strategic accounts , regions or industries, as well as 2nd level support for Cloud Commercial Terms.
Cloud Commissions (CoE): Responsible for supporting account teams in Cloud Commissions calculation and reporting in accordance with SAP Internal Policies and Guidelines.
Contracting: Prepares, negotiates and administers software licensing, professional services, non-disclosure, outsourcing, partnering and other contracts directly with internal lines of business. Interprets legal guidelines and understands and applies contractual/legal principles.
Experience & Language Requirements
Good knowledge in all of the following functional topics, and basic understanding in the residual topics:
– Revenue Recognition
– Quote Support
Very good understanding of most Deal Support topics
Good negotiation skills
Good understanding of legal conditions (from Legal Templates)
Good understanding of risk management during the opportunity
Good network in the different disciplines and departments and to other organizational units
Strong team player
Good service, customer, and solution orientation
Good business acumen and able to take over the negotiation at any point of time
Very good knowledge about the various business scenarios and the respective process flows and contact points
Very good in preparing decisions and take decisions in given boundaries
Good consulting skills for solving the customer requests to provide the best solution for customer and SAP’s interests
3-4 years of experience in at least two or three deal support topics such as:
– Pricing and deal structuring
– Revenue recognition
– Risk management
– Customer facing activities
Working experience with Shared Service Centre (is a preference)
Advanced written and spoken English skills
Fluent written and spoken language skills of other languages needed in internal customer contact
Highest school degree or successfully completed University Degree (preferred) or similar proficient experience
Or at least 3-5 years experience in the commercial areas with a proven performance track record
