Local Unit & Position Description:
DNV GL is recruiting a Country Manager for its activities in the renewable energy sector in Brazil as run from its Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza offices. The existing team in Brazil has a leading position in this sector, providing services throughout the life cycle of renewables generation assets such as wind farms and photovoltaic plants.
The successful applicant will work with Regional Management Americas and Brazil-based support services to develop and broaden the company’s business in its market. The Country Manager is responsible to execute the aggressive 2015-2018 Brazil growth plan. Main tasks will be of strategic, commercial, financial and technical nature. The role will combine management and execution of commercial work for clients.
The Country Manager will perform the following duties according to the following job description: (This list is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, and working conditions).
– Execute the 5-year business plan for the Brazil business Unit and achieve profitable growth;
– Lead business development activities and secure key accounts;
– Manage the technical and administrative team with the Business unit;
– Manage all administrative and financial aspects of the business unit, according to the DNV GL Management System, working together with Brazil-based and regional support services;
o Lead business development activities and secure key accounts and contracts;
o Liaise with a wide range of clients from wind farm developers, utilities, to TSOs, OEMs and financial institutions;
o Act as Sponsor on a project-level or as Key Account Manager on a customer level;
o Act as representative / speaker at key industry events and in industry working groups;
o Select, qualify and manage subcontractors as required.
o Provide technical mentoring to the team or technical advice directly to customers including:
. General project advice;
. Technical due diligence on pre-construction and operational projects;
. Assist clients with procurement including contract negotiation and tendering;
. Other ad-hoc advice;
o Supervise the complete product lifecycle from proposal to delivery.
o Manage the technical and administrative team, setting annual objectives, performing ongoing reviews and undertaking yearly appraisals;
o Recruit for new positions;
o Provide advice and guidance to the team, organizing training related to skills development and adoption of best practices;
o Ensure statutory and DNV GL QHSE policy is implemented;
o Conduct business reviews with the team and regional management.
o Prepare annual operating plan and annual budget;
o Continuously manage P&L and deliver results;
o Prepare monthly financial / business performance report and regular forecast;
o Ensure compliance.
o Bachelor degree in engineering (civil, mechanical or electrical), Master degree in a relevant field or MBA degree will be preferred;
o Experience (5-10 years) in a technical capacity in engineering, construction
or operation of power systems;
o Experience (5-10 years) in management in the consulting service sector;
o Strong practical knowledge, both commercial and technical, of the renewable energy sector;
o Knowledge of HSE regulations and systems;
o Knowledge and understanding of the market and future prospects/trends;
o Familiarity with international standards, national rules and certification body requirements;
o Capable of working independently and managing an integrated multicultural team;
o Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize and manage conflicting priorities;
o Ability to write and compose clear and accurate reports in English and Portuguese;
o Proven track-record in business development and in securing of orders;
o Good client skills – strong interpersonal, relationship and stakeholder management skills – ability to influence at all levels;
o Good presentational skills and ability to deliver corporate and strategic messages to group and customers;
o Portuguese must be the first (native) language. Candidate must be fluent in English and in Spanish.
